"I've had the extreme pleasure of learning the art of guitar building from R.J. Fulton. He went above and beyond the fundamental aspects of the craft, and provided me with the knowledge, understanding, and confidence needed to turn this hobby into a career.  He's big on shop safety, clean work, and has a great sense of humor. This was a great learning experience for me, and I consider my time spent  learning from R.J., absolutely invaluable. Anyone who's looking to get into guitar building, can be sure that this is the right guy to teach you."  - Cory Newman/Qualicum Beach, BC, Canada.

"I have had the pleasure of  knowing Richard J. Fulton for three years as both my teacher and my co-worker. I worked under him learning everything from basic set-up skills, to building step-by-step, to problem solving my way through many styles of building and repairing. While in a teaching environment he is constantly thinking of new and inventive ways of going about a project, making sure he has examined all angles to find the most effective way of executing the project.  Richard is proficient at maintaining this attention to detail while keeping the best interests of the instruments, the students and the clients in mind." - Arlen Pelletier

"I had RJ as my teacher in guitar building for a year in 07'-08'. Even though English isn't my first language he always could explain thoroughly to me each and everything I needed to do and really took the time explain and help me whenever I needed. He taught me one thing at a time so I would really get into each and every step of the building and so it would be easier for me to memorize what I was doing. I remember the first day when I went to study guitar building I was really nervous that all the big complicated English words would be a problem and would slow me down, but having RJ as my teacher I never felt that the English language and me being from a foreign country was a problem. After the year I had much more understanding and knowledge on how guitars work, how to achieve the sound you're looking for when your building the guitar and everything that comes to guitar building. I really felt confident to start building on my own and start the search for my style and sound after having RJ as my teacher. Thanks allot RJ!!!!!" - Kristinn (Stinni) Olafson

"RJ is an incredible teacher. During the year I spent studying guitar building with him, I crafted four unique and quality guitars whilst learning everything from repair work to traditional French polishing. Although I went to the school knowing very little about guitars, that did not hinder my ability to learn or RJ’s ability to teach me. I truly believe he can teach anyone. Patience, knowledge, professionalism, and above all, passion, are what make RJ such an amazing instructor."

"Despite what accent you may have or how unskilled you are, RJ will listen to you and make sure you know exactly what you are doing. He has a very calm and collected approach to problem solving and turns the biggest complications into a simple fix. Though RJ has been repairing, building and teaching others to build guitars for over 8 years, it’s his passion for the art of lutherie that makes him so knowledgeable. He is always searching for new methods and easier ways to do things. RJ always has a plan and carries that plan out step by step. As long as you show up to school on time and with a willingness to learn, there is no way you will leave Mountain View Luthier School and Guitar Works with anything less than a professional guitar and a great foundation to start a career in lutherie."

"After finishing my course with RJ, I have received nothing but compliments and praise for my accomplishments. Not only did I leave the school with a great amount of knowledge and confidence, but I also made lots of friends, including RJ, from all around the world. Shop life was always laid back and you could be sure that RJ would have you crying with laughter at some point during the day. He even made me a special carpeted stool so I could reach the machines. And even though I have finished my studies with RJ, he is always around to answer a phone call or email.  If you want to learn to build guitars, I highly recommend taking a course at Mountain View Luthier School and Guitar Works. If any of you have any questions or inquiries that you feel might best be answered by someone who has studied under RJ, please feel free to email me at moniquey999@hotmail.com." - Monique Massa, Whiterock, BC
